THE AUTHOR
Brad Smithson is a British author and administrator of the BuddyBate adult male community. For more than 20 years he has promoted the healthy exploration of masturbation in the context of adult male friendship and camaraderie.
Inspired by his own experiences – and those shared by other members of the international community – Brad began writing his own erotic fiction, with a specific focus on male masturbation.
“When I was working long and boring shifts in my first job I would finish a book every couple of days, and I found it increasingly difficult to find stories that could really entertain me. Almost all of the erotic fiction I found was predictable, and always involved themes I wasn’t particularly interested in. I found there was a significant lack of fiction for bromosexual and curious men who aren’t interested in penetrative encounters. So, ultimately, I decided to write it myself.”
Brad first began publishing his stories for free online more than 15 years ago, but moved to publishing at BuddyBate in 2010.
In order to attempt to monetize his work Brad opened a Patreon in 2019, which found immediate success and encouraged him to focus more on his writing.
After the closure of the Patreon (due to policy changes and a lack of support from the platform) Brad published Bateman’s Gully as an ebook. This again found success among his readers and he followed this up with the Book of Bate series. These collections contain both new and previously published stories.
In February of 2025 Brad embarked on his most ambitious project to date – creating his own subscription service here.
This would provide a steady income to allow Brad to focus on writing, and give the audience the fiction they craved without having to wait for a new release in the Book of Bate series.
Brad currently has several full-length novels to release in serialised form at BradSmithson.co.uk and will be adding to the Book of Bate collections in the future.
